Call for Leo Club Program Advisory Panel NominationsLeoLogo.jpg

Do you know a Leo or Lion who would make a great addition to the Leo Club Program Advisory Panel? The Leo Advisory Panel is a communication vehicle for Leos and Lions to share ideas about the program with Lions Clubs International. The panel provides Leos and Lions with an opportunity to represent their respective constituents while evaluating matters which affect the program. If you know a Leo or Lion that meets the necessary qualifications, please share the Leo nomination form or Lion nomination form with them and encourage their participation. Nominations are due August 15.

Share Your Lions Worldwide Week of Service Project

2015lionsweserveweeklogo135.pngIs your club ready for the Lions Worldwide Week of Service in May?
This year, International President Joe Preston made serving children in need a priority, so show the world how Lions help the most vulnerable members of our communities by sharing your Worldwide Week of Service event on Facebook and Twitter.
Visit the Worldwide Week of Service website to download the social media tools you’ll need to make this Worldwide Week of Service a roaring success. And be sure to use the hashtag #Lions100 in all your Centennial communications. We’ll share our favorite photos on the LCI Facebook page!

White Cane Week – Celebrate the Symbol of Independence

The white cane is a mobility tool symbolizing the ability of a blind or visually impaired person to live an independent life and fully participate in society. Promote the importance of the white cane during White Cane Week, May 11-17. Provide greater awareness by distributing the new white cane tags available from the Lions Store. Work with your local school administration to invite a person who is blind to visit the school and demonstrate the use of the white cane and its benefits.  Or, plan a community event to convey your community’s white cane laws to the public. Remember to report your White Cane activity in the MyLCI/Service Activity Report.

Lions and Little League: The Untold Storycover-2015-05.jpg

The May issue of the LION Magazine features the story of Lion Carl Stotz, the founder of Little League. Included in the digital LION are excellent ESPN videos on Little League. Other videos in the May digital LION are on Lions’ founder Melvin Jones, the Chicago Lighthouse for People Who are Blind or Visually Impaired and the Hawaiian Shirt Challenge. Also not to be missed in the May issue are a picture of Pope Francis blessing a dog guide and a clever, if incomplete, cartoon on eyeglasses.
